Adaptive Outdoor Adventures Outdoor Living Skills - OR17011613

New for 2017, adaptive outdoor adventures is a collaboration between the Therapeutic and Outdoor Recreation programs at Asheville Parks and Recreation. Activities are offered 1-2 times per month on evening and weekends. Most programs are accessible to anyone who would like to participate assuming they meet the essential eligibility criteria. If you enjoy building forts, shelters, and outdoor fires, this is the activity for you! This program will bring out our creative side as we work in teams to build and construct a temporary outdoor shelter and practice survival skills. A short hike, less than .5 miles will be required for this program and we will spend time off trail in a wooded area. Ages 8 and over

Go on high-tech treasure hunt utilizing a hand held GPS device, and get in some exercise, too! This activity will include walking up and down mild hills in a variety of terrain (paved/gravel/dirt roads, grass, mud, water). For ages 6 and older.

Enjoy an evening of outdoor socialization, fun, and games by the light of a campfire. We will also be making and eating s’mores this evening! For ages 6 and older. Participants under age 15 should be accompanied by an adult.

TR Adapted Cycling 2017 - TR17041604

In conjunction with WCU’s DPT Program, we are excited to offer this program focused on outdoor play and getting fit through planned games and activities.  This program aims to improve riding skill and teach safe cycling strategies for youth ages 6+, with or without disabilities.  ALL pedaling abilities are welcome, ALL family and friends are invited to come out and ride with us, too!

Registration begins August 1 by calling the TR Office at 259-5483.. Web registration not allowed.
